Mount your Plasma for a Great HD Theatre!

Can you say Voom HD!
Hi, David Ethridge here and
I have seen the changes over the years from VHS to HD Format and now that Toshiba has thrown in the towel for HD players and movies it's clear that Sony's Blu-Ray HD is
the standard HD Format.
This is exciting stuff.
This is my 50 inch Panasonic Plasma I installed for my
studio.
Plasma is definitely the way to go since there is no refresh rates like what LCD has for
any type of sudden movement.

Dont sweat the life span issue, both LCD AND PLASMA are basically the same...Magnolia.
BUT! Magnolia wanted $500.00 just to install the Plasma on my wall and dang, you can take that money and buy a great Plasma stand with that money to hold all your audio hardware.
This is all it takes:
1. WALL LAYOUT:
Measure the wall your placing it on and subtract the height of the wall by the Height
of the stand you like since your going to save $500.00 doing the install yourself.

2. MEASURE SIZE OF PLASMA:
Have your Plasma Physical Length and Height and subtract that from the previous number
you came up with to find the center location of your Plasma and mark the physical outline
of the Plasma lightly with a pencil on the wall.

3. PLASMA PORTS:
Look at the back of your Plasma for the locations of the HDMI connections and power
hookups. (Most likely it's on the bottom half of the unit.)

4. OUTLETS: ELECTRICAL
Have a electrician route a Electical outlet up behind where the LCD would mount by
where the electrical should hook up on the Plasma approx.

5. OUTLETS: HDMI CABLES
Add another outlet to route
your HDMI cables up the
wall for a cool wireless look.
Be carefull not to be rough
or to bend the HDMI cables
while installing them.
I do recommend high quality
cables vs $20.00 HDMI cables.
You will notice the difference.

6. MOUNTING PLATE:
I bought the SANUS TILTING WALL MOUNT (model VMXA1B) from Best
Buy to mount the plate shown here and you just have to find two vertical pieces of
framing behind the wall using a stud finder and locate approx. center of between your
markings for the Plasma size on the wall.

*Make sure before you do your final tightening that you take a leveler to check your
plate is not sloped at one end. You can shim the mounting of the LCD to the Plate.

7. LIFTING:
Do not attempt to lift the Plasma by yourself, no matter how much you have been
working out lately the Plasma is not worth messing your back up, one other person will
work great.

8. UPGRADES:
Now that your done mounting your Plasma you can do a couple other upgrades that are
necessary.

9. HDMI RECEIVER:
You have hooked it up then your ready for a NEW RECEIVER (Pioneer or Denon) that has
HDMI inputs and one output for ease of controlling your Plasma video inputs and that
receiver will also have the decoder for HD sound that is also routed through the HDMI
cable.

10. HARMONY ONE REMOTE CONTROL (LOGITECH)
This is a amazing universal controller that
actually controls my Apple TV, Receiver,
latest Blu-Ray DVD player and my HD Dish
Receiver...all buttons are functional on it.

I would call it a redesign of the remote
control the way all remote controls should
have worked.
Saves your set up online at Logitech for
quick updates or to restore.
Well worth the price of putting all those other remotes away for good...feels good.
This amazing remote also comes with a recharging cradle so, no batteries needed!
11. TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT:
Now your ready for hours of great entertainment on your home theatre and with the
Apple TV you can have those family slide shows to show off your pictureS put to YOUR
own style of music.
